Caliente adds UL listing on Thermoelectric Cooler Controller

Caliente, LLC announced today that its Frio Series Temperature Controller has been certified as UL listed. The device, which is an add on to the company’s thermoelectric cooler, allows end users to control the temperature in settings of cool, heat, or cool/heat.

Underwriters Laboratory (UL) is a safety consulting and certification company headquartered in Northbrook, Illinois and maintains offices in 46 countries. UL oversees and ensures electrical products will be safe in user applications. The approval comes as a result of listening to our customer base and responding to their increasing demand for DC-powered thermal management tools that carry UL approval.

“We recognize that there can be delays in our customers product development cycle due to non UL listed product inspections” said Mike Kelly, President of Caliente. “To minimize the cost and complexity of inspections for our customers, we’ll continue to work closely with UL’s safety organization to ensure our products, including DC-powered, are UL listed”.

The Frio Series Temperature Controller has been approved for 20 amps with a voltage range of 12~60VDC. The device has alarm signals embedded in case of fan failure and/or a high/low temperature alert. The controller also utilizes a PWM type algorithm for temperature control. The controller is also conformal coated for environmental protection.

“I really appreciate this and the extra efforts you’ve put into this purchase [of thermal targets] are the kind of things that make a company outshine its competitors in the market. We won’t forget this! Myself and the government office I support were very excited to find Caliente and I have really enjoyed working with everyone at the company.”
